Here is a small sample of the fifth grade art that will be on display at this year's art show. Make sure to stop by tomorrow while attending the annual spring concert to enjoy the gallery up close and in person!

This week, the fifth grade had many opportunities to celebrate the Pascal Mystery in ways unique and special to HCA. Keep reading to learn about how we observed each day of Holy Week! On Tuesday , fifth and sixth graders joined the nursery and Pre-K students in their annual Easter egg hunt. Fun was had by all, and our older students really stepped up as helpers for their younger friends. On Wednesday , the class acted out the Passion of Christ as they reenacted Jesus' final few days on Earth. Later, they wrote Easter poems from the perspective of the apostles, which they later recorded. Please make sure to click on the 'Easter Poems' presentation below to enjoy their hard work! Fifth graders enjoy some outdoor reading as they work in their Literature Circles on their current novel, Number the Stars.

This week, a lively class discussion on immigration from our Social Studies text inspired the students to reflect, research, and ultimately take part in debates on broad topics related to immigration policy in the United States. Tom and Garrett reflect on their similar and opposing viewpoints on immigration during a Four Corners activity.  Andrew, Zayda, Charlotte, Sean, and Molly discuss why they strongly agree with a particular statement on immigration during Four Corners. Sean and Zayda present an opposing argument while Sophia, Garrett, and Molly provide the supporting argument during the immigration debate. Sixth grade began their new service project with Sonshine Christian Academy this week. Each month, they will plan an activity to participate in with the three, four, and five-year old children. For their first visit this past Wednesday, they read books and prepared a song and dance to share with their new, young friends! Both the children and our sixth graders had a great time and are looking forward to our future visits in April and May!
